Questions & Replies

  1. Does anyone know the recipe for Pete's Famous sauce just the regular Saucy put on all. Dogs not to Special Sauce

  2. is that three whole onions and do they all go in the sauce or do you keep some out and put it on top? Also I've never heard of putting cold milk in a sauce before does it still taste like coney sauce? Thank you

  1. I haven't actually tried this recipe and not sure if I want to but I am so happy it is here. I grew up eating Pete's Famous Special Dogs and in my early adult life I worked right across the street in the Frank Nelson Building. Needless to say I had a weekly dose of those Special Dogs for about 15 years while I worked at the firm. I can't get my dogs to have that Pete's bite anyway, I think it was those special Zeigler hot dogs he used. I might try this recipe later although I am glad someone is trying to preserve this wonderful delicious sauce recipe so others can enjoy it.

  2. Having grown up with the hotdog trifecta Pete's Famous Gus's and Sneaky Pete's I have been searching for a good chilli sauce that is similar to Sneaky Pete's (I dont remember how Pete's Famous tasted). My opinion is take a chilli sauce such as this one and add Sneaky Pete's hot dog sauce to recipe and there you have it. As close and good as it gets.
