This is a great winter treat from the February 2004 issue of New Jersey Monthly magazine. The recipe was submitted by Chef Eric Manuelli of Red Restaurant and Lounge, Red Bank.
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups milk
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, plus extra for shaving
- 1⁄2 teaspoon peppermint oil
- whipped cream
- Combine all ingredients (except the shaved chocolate and whipped cream) and carefully bring to a simmer.
- Serve hot, garnished with a dollop of whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
