I have had something similar to this at a restaurant, too. I was very happy to try your version. The sauce had a wonderful richness and subtle spiced flavor. I used Italian sausage because I think its flavor along with the pumpkin go very well together. I did add a slosh or two of white wine, like you suggested and that added to the flavor, also. This is something that I would make again and would serve to guests. Husband and I enjoyed it. Excellent job!!
This is unique, tasty delicious, and filling. It says it serves four, but I think it's enough to feed Jon & Kate plus 8...and anyone else who might come to the dinner table.
This recipe does indeed make enough to serve 8. I used fresh pumpkin and served it over homemade gnocchi. FANTASTIC!
We made this sauce without the sausage. It turned out great! We served it with gnocchi and added a little pepper and red pepper flakes and pumpkin pie spice. Also, it makes about twice as much as stated! Mikey thought it could use a little salt, but Ev thought just some parmesan cheese did the trick. Hearty sauce and delicious! We will make this again for sure
