Penne With Creamy Garlic Sauce

"This delicious pasta dish came off the back of San Giorgio's Penne Rigate pasta box. We love it. Sometimes I add sauteed chicken breast to it for a complete meal."

  1. Delish! I made this as written except that I used mostaccioli because I was out of penne. My whole family loved this! I served it as a side dish, but as others have said, it would be great with chicken or shrimp. Thanks Realtor for another great keeper. Made for I Recommend Tag.

  2. This was right on when it comes to taste. I added chicken and used cream. This made a lot so my daughter reheated it for lunch. She said it was still just as good. Thanks for posting a winner.

  3. Very good recipe. I used the recipe as a starting point. I wanted some vegetables and protein so I added some cauliflower and some canned salmon. I used half heavy whipping cream and half 2% milk. Still nice and creamy. I didn't have broth so I used some chicken bouillon and water. Oh and I used 4-5 cloves of garlic. I almost always triple the garlic called for since I'm a garlic lover. Thanks for posting the recipe. Very easy to make.

  4. I didn't have anything other then angel hair, so that's what I used. I substituted vegetable broth, as we are vegetarian, and used half and half. Delicious!! Even my picky husband said he really enjoyed this. Thank you!

  5. I just made this for dinner tonight. I made a few minor changes to substitute for things I didn't have, however. Keep in mind this is a doubled recipe. We freeze leftovers for work lunches in our house!

Instead of chicken broth, I used a packet of chicken flavored ramen noodle seasoning, boiled for 15-20 minutes in about 5 cups of water, and added a teaspoon of sugar to offset the saltiness.

Instead of parsley, I used about 1 1/2 tsp of Oregano, 1/4 tsp Chives, and about 1/4 tsp of ground black pepper, and about 2 tbsp of Garlic Powder.I also increased the cheese to 1 1/3 cups, and boiled and chopped some chicken breast and mixed it with the sauce, for which I used 2% milk, and added Broccoli and Cauliflower to it.

Let's just say that my mother, who eats like a bird, and very sparingly, went back for seconds and had to claim some for just herself so she would have lunch!! I haven't seen her do this in about 2 years, when i made home made ravioli from scratch!!! This was a great find!!

  2. Easy, inexpensive, and wonderful!! Followed the recipe to a T. The sauce is so good! Dip some garlic texas toast in the sauce and you'll be in heaven baby! I used the light cream instead of the milk. Served with small salad and texas toast.

I'm a full-time Realtor for Century 21 Graham Realty during the day and at night I'm a wife and mother of one 6 year old daughter, Angelina plus one small dorkie dog (dachshund-yorkie mix) named Petey. I love to cook and experiment with new recipes. I've been collecting cookbooks (I have a few hundred) and recipes for as long as I can remember. I like to buy recipe boxes at yard sales and auctions and peak through them for yummy recipe gems. I've found some really amazing recipes that way. I'm a huge fan of Le Creuset enameled cast iron cookware. I've been collecting different pieces for a few years now. I always considered myself a great cook but these pans raise things to a whole new level. I'm planning to post all of my favorite recipes that I've collected over the years. I have all these clippings and pieces of paper and magazine clips that are everywhere. My recipe boxes are packed with these things and it's time to organize the whole mess. I suppose it will take years (did I say years?!?) to get them all posted but it's worth it. So keep checking back to my posts for new goodies. I can't wait to see what long lost gems turn up. I've already run across several of my old favs. Isn't it nice to have all your best recipes all organized right here? I've also been printing them out and putting them in a nice new binder where I can actually find them when I want to make them. I LOVE this site. I have found some of the best recipes EVER right here on 'Zaar. There are some fantastic cooks here and I just want to say "Thank you" to all of you who have made me look like the greatest cook on the planet with your wonderful recipes. I try to make as many new ones each week as I can. It's so much fun experimenting. My DH of 9 years is my guinea pig- he will eat ANYTHING I put in front of him. My little girl... well, she's more of a challenge to please. Not really picky but she doesn't really like meat or stuffing or peppers or mushrooms or.... oh, the new one is onions. I could go on but you get the idea. You probably have or had one just like her. They seem to learn all about these things that they don't like at school. All of the sudden...they don't like something they've been eating for 3 years because their friend "Alyssa" doesn't like it. What a challenge it is feeding these little creatures! That's her and Petey in the picture above.
