One of the most attractive, unique hors d'oeuvres I've come across--great for holiday season parties.
- 5 slices good black bread
- 1⁄2 lb sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 large ripe pear
- 1⁄2 cup honey
- 1⁄2 cup toasted hazelnuts, coarsely chopped
- Quarter each slice of bread and arrange on a platter.
- Cut cheddar into 20 slices place on bread.
- Cut pear into 20 thin slices.
- Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with hazelnuts.
- Serve with wine (best with dry reds).
