I loved this recipe when I was a kid and now I also love making them. It came from an old family recipe that my grandma had for quite a while until I took over. For a little fun, sprinkle the cookies with red and green sugar after baking for Christmas.
- Preheat oven to 375.
- Cream together shortening, sugars, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
- Stir in peanut butter.
- Sift together dry ingredients and stir into creamed mixture.
- Form into small balls.
- Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet *cookies will get MUCH bigger*.
- Press down with back of fork to make criss-cross *optional*.
- Bake 10-15 minute.
