This is definitely a 5 star recipe! The flavor of the peanut butter and chocolate are fabulous! There are a couple little things I would suggest though...you need to edit to include add the milk with the peanut butter as that is missed in the directions but I figured that is when it is added. When I made the first one and immediately turned it out onto the plate, the custard bowl was extremely hot, the cake did not want to drop and when I did get it out I was missing a good chunk of the cake. So (I know this is really trying here...) I made it a 2nd time (such a sacrifice lol) and let it cool in the microwave a minute, then another minute on the counter. The cake still had a bit of a hold on the bottom of the custard cup but eventually dropped without loosing but a skim of the cake so maybe another minute of cooling would help. Either way - just serve the cake in the custard cup and you have a nifty and quick dessert for one that is moist yet has a firm texture so it is not all crumbly and the cake flavor itself is just delightful. I made two of these, one of DH and one for myself; sorry to say I thought it was a smidge dry. Adding a little bit more milk may help, or serving with some ice cream or a sauce would be perfect! Thanks, Deb, for sharing a great recipe that lets me get my chocolate fix with minimal work!
The cake was a little bit too dry. I like recipe with chocolate and peanut butter, but there was something I didn't like. Maybe it was the whole wheat flour. Sometimes it doesn't bother me but in that, I didn't like. I will try it with all purpose flour and maybe 1 tbs more of milk. It would have been great with a frosting. Yummy! Am always looking for smaller recipes to fix for the two of us, plus love chocolate and peanut butter together, and this fits the bill! Made and shared with hubby topped with a tiny scoop of ice cream. Did not take a pic b/c it did not come out of container neatly. I made in a container that was larger than a custard cup and seemed fine. Thanks Debbwl for sharing.
This is a tasty little gem. I found it to be a tad dry. The mix was way too thick so I added about 1.5 tablespoons more milk. I use natural peanut butter, so it has no sugar where the peanut butter most people eat has sugar and other oils added. I think I will add a bit of honey or agave next time I try it.
I found myself in need of a chocolate fix tonight, and had nothing on hand. This was perfect. After I made it, I called my mom (the queen of the chocoholics) and shared this recipe with her.......her response was that it wasn't but a mouthful of cake, she'd have to make three! For me, this was perfect......for her....guess she'll have to make three. LOL! She eats dessert after every meal....and I do mean every meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner!
