Peach-custard Kuchen

"If you are a peach cobbler lover that eats around the peaches and goes for the crust, this is for you. Feel free to add more peaches if you want, but would recommend you trying it this way first. Found this in Betty Crocker's Best-Loved Recipes."

  1. I found this recipe while searching for a quick dessert to make using frozen peaches from this summer. I made several changes based on what I had handy: Formed the dough in a pie tin, used 2 c. peaches in the middle, my 4 year old decided to "help" and mash some peaches - so I threw those in the custard, added a bit of almond extract to the custard, I also didn't have whipping cream, so I used milk with cornstarch and flour... and I forgot to bake during the first step... Lesson: This is a totally fool-proof recipe. I did have to bake it for about 40-45 minutes, but it was well worth it. I could barely wait for it to cool at all before cutting into it! Delicious!

  2. Yummy! I made this as directed with fresh picked donut peaches. My crust burned a little bit but was still good. I enjoyed crunchy sugar cookie like crust with the sweet soft peaches, cinnamon and creamy custard on top. Made for the Holiday tag game.

  3. We really enjoyed this dessert, especially since I was able to get some very nice ripe peaches for it! And, although I'm not a big fan of 'custard' it worked very well with this dish! Thanks for sharing a great recipe! [Tagged, made & reviewed in Please Review My Recipe]

  4. I've used this recipe several times over the past year; each time with great success. I have also played around with the recipe and gotten equally good results. A couple of suggestions - 1)substitute apples for the peaches and 2) use 4 individual tart pans instead of an 8X8 pan for special dinners.

  5. This is a great fool-proof recipe! I messed up following the instructions and it still turned out fine. Instead of baking it in two different steps, I put all the ingredients together in the order indicated and put it in the oven. The crust still turned out crusty and everything was great! I also used 2 whole eggs because I didn't know what to do with the egg whites. As another reviewer did, I also used light cream instead of whipping cream. Whew!

I was one of the original members of Recipezaar that was truly a community of individuals that enjoyed each other in forums and chat rooms. I've been a member of this site since 2003. Made some tremendous friends that I still think of often. I'll continue coming here because my recipes are here and so many more that I tried over the years as a member. It's just a tad boring now and just another recipe site like all the rest. Sad.
