Pb, B, and L (Peanut Butter, Bacon, and Lettuce) Sandwich (A BLT

When I was a kid, I was more picky about eating tomatoes on my sandwiches, and when my mom and younger sister and I got together to make up BLT's, I would sometimes leave off the tomato. Somewhere I learned that bacon was tasty with peanut butter, and so I started to eat bacon with peanut butter (I also eat bacon with maple syrup), and thus was born this new type of sandwich. Peanut butter (instead of mayo), lettuce, and bacon, on toast, and sandwiched together. I know it sounds a bit odd, but it's really yummy! I just wrote this out to serve 1 person, 1 sandwich. I like lots of bacon, and all my measurements are estimates, so please adjust accordingly to your taste/needs. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do! Although I should be eating turkey bacon instead of regular bacon, I have not yet tried this with turkey bacon.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 2 slices white bread, toasted
  • 2 -4 leaves lettuce, Iceberg
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked to desired crispness and drained
  • 1 -2 tablespoon creamy peanut butter (Jif Creamy is what I always use)

  1. Spread desired amount of smooth peanut butter on one side of each of 2 slices of toasted white bread.
  2. Layer lettuce leaves and crisp bacon. Put both sides of toast together to make a sandwich.

This is bizarrely TASTY!! Heehee. I actually used Sharon123's recipe#318406 for a vegan version of this great sandwich. Think I used a bit too much pb, but it was still so yummy. My mom, hesitant at first, liked it just as much. I'm sure we'll have these again. Thanks!

This was yummy lunch today. I will say that the bacon seemed to get a little bit lost in the peanut butter, but it was still very enjoyable. I do prefer a traditional BLT, but this was tasty and fun to try. I never would have thought of putting this combo together. Thanks so much for posting! Made for PRMR Tag.

My whole family loves this sandwich. I mean the whole family aunts, uncles, bothers, sisters, cousins, grandchildren... This sandwich has been a family favorite for over 50 years as I am now in my 60's. THATBOBBIEGIRL posted a similar sandwich in April of 2002. Recipe #25625. My sister loves peanut butter and bologna with mayonnaise. Don't know if that sandwich is on Zaar, she says it should be! AHHH...This comes close singmeasleep posted Recipe #100004 We think that peanut butter should be in a category of it's own. Thanks for posting this and sharing. Perhaps it will be a favorite for other generations of families as it has been for mine.
