This is a wonderful casserole! But here is a BIG secret--it's not Paula Deen's, it came from a Pillsbury cook-off recipe from over 30 years ago! I have been making this casserole for years, and it is one of the best comfort foods ever. Personally--I don't care who claims it--it's just GOOD!

I love this recipe and I make it with a rotisserie chicken. The main thing I fine it isn't spicy enough for us so I add about 1/2 a envelope of taco seasoning to it. The taco seasoning just makes it.

I really enjoyed this, I just wish it made more for our big family! Next time, I will double it.

Just great. I didn't add the pimientos...we don't like them. But I replaced the rice (didn't have on hand) so I used unthawed hash browns. Delicious. Also layered the top with french onion rings. Easy and food I usually have in the house. I'll be sure to try it with the wild rice next time though.

Followed the directions exactly and used all ingredients listed. Didn't care for this at all. Bland, expensive to make and time consuming. I won't be making this again. Sorry, but I found it tasteless and not worth the effort or expense.

Easy, a complete meal and inexpensive! I used light mayo, Healthy Request Soup and bottled roasted red peppers and it was very good. I think next time I will top it off with the canned French's onion rings. Thanks for the recipe. Carole in Orlando

Delicious comfort food as it's best! Easy to prepare and as tasty as all get out. I topped the casserole w/ herbed stuffing mix and extra grated cheddar... otherwise, I followed the instructions exactly. Definitely a repeater around here! Thanks for sharing this recipe, HeidiSue!

I've got my family and my in-laws absolutely hooked on this dish. Everyone I serve it to begs for the recipe. Truly one of the best casseroles ever.

We made this with left over Turkey. It's simple to put together and tastes good. I will be making again.

I actually made this recipe from another cookbook where it is calledd "Kentucky Chicken and Wild Rice Casserole." (I think I got it from "The Dinner Doctor.") My daughters like it, with one of them LOVING it. Hubby thinks its OK but it's not his favorite. But the women of this house like it!

A friend asked me Saturday if I had ever made this. I have the cookbook, but had never stopped long enough to try this. She went ON AND ON about how good it was and how her family loves it. I made it Monday night and even the 6yo LOVED IT....she ate 3 helpings of it. The whole pan was cleaned out and I think I saw one of the kids licking the pan!!! The green beans and pimento really give this a great flavor and the water chestnuts give the dish a great crunch. I'm sure that we will be having this MANY more times in the future. Thanks for posting the recipe!!!
