Pat's Prayer Cookies

"This was given by Zella Gray from East Tennessee and has been used as "prayful distraction" in times of crisis - drop a spoonful of dough, say a prayer! Don't cut the recipe in half - doesn't turn out right."

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Mix shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla.
  • Add dry ingredients.
  • Drop by the teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 7 to 8 minutes.
  • May be kept in refrigerator for a week or so (if they last that long). Can also be kept frozen before or after baking.
  • Makes 15 to 20 dozen cookies depending on the size.
