This is wonderful. Super cheap as well. I used prepackaged sliced turkey ham and added a dash of liquid smoke. I did not add the beef broth. For the pasta I used ziti. For our family this serves at least 6. I will definitely make this again.

I made this for dinner tonight and will make it many many more times. I used alot less oil and still carmelized the onions nicely. I also used whole wheat pasta but kept the rest of the recipe intact. This is a really good dish-Thanks

I thought this was a quick & easy meal to throw together! The flavor was wonderful! I would recommend using the beef broth just for added flavor (even if you don't really need the moisture). I used a smoked ham steak in place of regular smoked ham. . . just my preferrence. Thanks for the recipe!

Delicious savory comfort food. I left the cabbage fairly crunchy, sauteing it only 3-4 minutes. I carmelized the onions for about 50 minutes and I did use the 1/2 cup beef broth. I used a rainbow fusilli and was very pleased with the dish's appearance. The combination of al dente pasta, sweet onion and cabbage, savory ham and crunchy cabbage was so pleasing and addictive. I liked this dish a lot more than I expected to. Thanks, Michelle.

Briefly cooking cabbage keeps it sweet and colorful. The browned onions add a dark savory flavor, the ham adds a chewey texture and a salty rich flavor. I used mini penne and left out the cheese. Thanks Michelle, this is my idea of comfort food!
