This was really good and even my husband liked it (he's not a pasta bake fan). I'm still enjoying the leftovers. Didn't use any beef, and only about 2/3 of the pasta. Also, no provolone, so topped it with Mozzarella

Love, love, love this! I'm sure my husband is going to label it as "chili" which he does to anything of a tomato, bean and meat mixture, but I don't care - it was delicious!

Sorry Kittencal this didn't go over well at our house. I thought it was pretty good but DH didn't care for the beans. He felt that the beans gave a weird texture. It certainly is not a traditional pasta fagioli. It was pretty much a baked ziti taking out the ricotta & substituting beans. Probably will not be making again.

I really really liked this. I used mild itailan turkey sausage. My store doesn't have hot turkey sausage. I should have upped the pepper to make up for this. I used a whole small can of tomato paste instead of trying to find another way to use it all up. I accidently bought mozzarella instead of provolone. Very very good. I have been having leftovers all week for lunch amd have enjoyed every bite, especially the cheesy top :) Thanks for sharing.

All Ihave heard fro 40 years from DH is that grandma's pastafazool couldn't be beat. So I made this. When he didn't eat the kidney beans I knew something was up. He said "pastafazool is a soup". Not being Italian, how was I suppose to know? Turns out HE was thinking of pasta fagioli instead I guess. Anyway, this was delicious to my Polish taste buds. I could eat this for days! Next up-pasta fagioli. Thanks for the great keeper.

This was fantastic! I can't tell you how much all 6 of us enjoyed this. I was concerned that it might be a little "meat-heavy", but the end result was a hearty, satisfying dish. It was perfect at the end of a long afternoon of skiing. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Delicious! I omitted the ground beef and used just a pound of hot italian sausage, and then halved the rest of the reciped since there are only 2 of us. This still made A LOT. We had it for dinner last night, packed it for lunch today, and still have some leftover for a second lunch this week. As good as it was straight out of the over, it was even better reheated today! I may chill the casserole overnight next time to let the deliciousness build! Thanks for another great recipe!

An absolute WINNER!! Having a toddler I had to tone down the spice, I used regular Italian sausage but otherwise followed the directions and it turned out beautifully. My family has become addicted. Will be making again and again. Thanks so much.

Very good. I used ground turkey in place of the beef, but might leave it out altogether next time and just stick with the sausage. This is a very "meaty" casserole. Be prepared to freeze leftovers if you're not feeding 10 people for dinner!

My family and I enjoyed this very much. I drained one of my 14 oz can of tomatoes, forgot to buy parsley, and used sliced provolone cheese on the top. It was a great recipe. Next time I'll halve it..it makes an enourmous amount! Kitten, thanks for a great recipe. Sue

This was okay- I used ground turkey instead of ground beef so I think I'll try it again. This made a TON of food!

Kittencal, YOU ROCK! This was the absolute best Pasta Fazool I have ever made! I used hot sausage and upped the cayenne to my liking and it was fantabulous! I too split the dish in two and froze the other half and it works great! 1 hr at 400. Thanks so much for sharing this great recipe!

I am surprised to see that I have not rated this yet. I absolutely loved it! I froze half and used the other half for dinner. I had a hard time not taking it out of the freezer the next night to eat again! Thanks for a great recipe!

Whole family enjoyed this but it was a little too spicy for the kids (not for me =). I think next time I will use regular italian sausage but keep the cayenne in. Also as a personal preference I would add more kidney beans (hubby said didn't think it needed more).

It was very good, all my kids liked it. It may be good pot luck dish, too.

Delicious. I only used sweet sausage since I was out of ground meat. I just put hot sauce on my portion. I halved the recipe and still had enough servings for 5 or 6. And I doubled the amount of beans because I didn't want to have half of a can leftover. My kids ate theirs so I count this as a keeper.
