These were delicious! I did saute the chopped mushrooms first just a little bit( I thought it would give a bit more flavor). One question, where is the parsley? I added about 1/2 cup chopped parsley to the mix. My whole family and a guest loved these and asked for more. Thanks! [Editor's Note: the recipe was edited because of this review 10/15/02]

Definitely going in the "good enough for company" cookbook. I adored this recipe! Served it with garlic mayo and it was perfect. They look like burgers, so if you want to be a little fancier, try making little medallions or changing the shape. But no matter what you do, they're great and you're gonna luv 'em!

I made this for our family which includes a vegetarian daughter. This was a big hit for all! I omitted the jalapeno and added chopped garlic instead in case the heat was too for the rest of the family. I have already copied this into my tried and true recipes. Next time I thought I might add feta as well. Thanks for the posting

These were great. Being vegetarians, this was right up our alley. I added some of my own seasonings (as always). I loved them and so did the fam. Thanks

My family isn't totally vegetarian, but we are making an effort to eat less meat these days. These veggie patties are one of the best I've tried! Just because I like them, I added some cooked lentils to the mixture. I think lentils approximate the texture of ground beef pretty well, so I like to use them in veggie patties. This recipe will go into our regular rotation...thanks again!

These are 'okay', somewhat bland when made as written and certainly not very pretty on the plate - not company worthy in that sense. I too served these with garlic aioli

Can I give this 6 stars? This was great. The one big change I made was to replace the flour & bread crumbs with ground almonds for DH on a low carb diet. The batter was a little wet, but it worked really well.

What a hit! Personally I hate mushrooms but I made these for my husband and he LOVED them. My 6 yr old daughter, who dislikes mushrooms, ate 2! Thank you for a great recipe!

Tried a half batch of this recipe, since it was all the mushrooms I had. Was a little plain without the jalapeno, but it makes a great starter to tweak with your own seasonings. I might sautee them in butter next time, and they might be delicious with Swiss cheese and bacon on them. (I'm going to use Bacon Salt since I can't eat bacon, but I suspect the real thing would be great.) Would probably also be good with Italian spices and melted provolone cheese.

Lovely patties! Had them w/ fresh salsa and a nice couscous salad. They're great b/c there is plenty you can do w/ them - as a burger or by themselves... Will putting this to keeper file! Thanks for the recipe.

These were perfect just as written. I served them on rolls with Swiss slices and mayo. Delicious!

A keeper! The mixture seemed a bit wet and sticky to me but they turned out fantastic. Can't wait to try these on the grill this summer. Thanks for posting!

This was delicious! My 2-yr old thought they were burgers, so he gobbled his up. My 6-yr old wasn't fooled into thinking it was a burger, but she loved hers too all the same. DH went back for seconds. A winner of a recipe! I used a variation of a honey-mustard sauce for dipping this, which was a tasty combination. Thanks, Derf!

Boy, I feel bad only giving three stars to a recipe that clearly other people adore, but this just didn't do it for us. We did like it, and my husband suggested that maybe just serving as a side with a small dollop of goat cheese on top it would be better. We served it in pita bread with a slice of cheese, and it was just okay for us. I was actually disappointed because I'm a huge mushroom lover and couldn't wait to make this recipe. It certainly was easy to make, and maybe with a bit more spice it would suit our particular tastes more. I used the jalapeno, italian bread crumbs and a little extra parsley. I may try making it again and play around with it a bit since all the ingredients are there to be delicious!

Oh my goodness these are amazing! I scaled it down to use only one egg since I was just making these for my mom and she didn't want "too many". So I made three. BIG MISTAKE! She gobbled all three up in minutes. So easy to make. Used Pam to fry them since I ran out of veg. oil and added some garlic to complement to Italian bread crumbs. Will make again and again!

we loved this! my husband is just a fiend for mushrooms and was delighted that i found yet another form in which to present it to him:p i added a bit more parsley and the flavor was really extrovert in this and went well with the crunchy texture of the mushrooms. i, too, sauteed the mushrooms before forming the patties and it did quite burst with flavor. i can foresee myself having to make this again!
