Discovered in a local newspaper, and altered to fit my tastes. Makes a delicious side to grilled meats, and pasta dishes.


  1. Snap ends off green beans, and cook.
  2. Meanwhile, heat oil in skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add garlic and shallots and cook to soften.
  4. Toss with cooked green beans.
  5. Add Parmesan and toss.
  6. Serve immediately.

Stacyb, Thanks for a very good tasting recipe.I did not have any fresh green beans,but used canned and this tasted like the Italian green beans my daughter makes.The only thing I did different was to add 1/2 tsp of italian seasoning.This was great. Thanks,Darlene Summers

This was a great way to cook string beans. I added onions with the garlic and a little oregano at the end. I think this would also work well with butter in place of the oil. Thank you for posting!

These were pretty good. I ran out of Parmesan, so I had to make them without and they still turned out nicely. Will make this again and add the cheese next time. They were quick and easy to make too.
