Panini Sandwiches

When I got my George Foreman grill, I made up this recipe to be like the ones that I had bought. It has been a big hit with everyone.

Ingredients:

Servings: 4

• 8 slices sourdough bread (or other round loaf bread)
• 4 slices mozzarella cheese
• 4 slices provolone cheese
• 4 slices cheddar cheese
• ½ lb deli turkey
• ½ lb deli ham
• ½ lb sandwich pepperoni
• ½ lb genoa salami
• pepperoncini pepper , cut into rings
• ¼ cup melted butter

Directions:

1. Start heating the grill.
2. Place 1 slice of mozzarella on each of 4 slices of bread.
3. Place 1 slice of provolone on each of the other 4 slices of bread.
4. Top the mozzarella with pepperoni, salami and pepperoncini.
5. Top the provolone with turkey, ham and cheddar.
6. Place the two halves of the sandwiches together.
7. Brush the top of the first sandwich with the melted butter.
8. Place the sandwich butter side down on the grill.
9. Brush the other side with melted butter.
10. Grill till bread is toasted and the cheese has melted.
11. Continue with the other sandwiches.
12. A George Foreman grill works great with these sandwiches but even a stove top grill would work.

Oh my now I know what all the fuss is about! Made these for the super bowl. I did use french bread but to size the grill but add all the other ingredients and also a few banana peppers before grilling. It came out crunchy and simply delicious. I cute the portions down to finger type sandwiches. Definitely a big hit!

Love the crispy crust and the melty cheese. I made as directed and also with pastrami. YUM!

I made a vegetarian version with the cheeses, peppercinis, red and green bell peppers, mushrooms, red onion and a little bit of chipotle mayo on my stovetop grill. It was hard to flip them without them falling apart, making me wish I really had a Foreman grill -- but the sandwiches were fantastic! Seriously, really, really good. Yum.
