Pan-Seared Tuna With Avocado

A nice, fresh, Tuna dish that goes well with the vinaigrette sauce.

Directions

  1. Combine all the ingredients except the tuna and avocados in a bowl, and stir. This is your vinaigrette.
  2. Divide the tuna into four six ounce blocks, and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Coat a skillet with olive oil on medium-high heat, and heat.
  4. Put the tuna steaks in the hot oil, and sear on each side for 1 minute to form a crust with the salt and pepper.
  5. Pour half the vinaigrette into the pan, and coat the fish.
  6. Remove the fish from the pan. Top the fish with sliced avocado, and drizzle the rest of the vinaigrette over it all.

Love it! When we can find sashimi grade tuna this is ALWAYS the recipes we use. I'm not a fan of jalepenos, so I leave them out of my half - but put them in hubby's half. It's so easy to make, often I will make extra of the vinaigrette to make prep-time easier.

I picked up some sushi grade tuna and was excited ty try this. I tossed some English cucumbers into half moons with the viniagrette then topped with the tuna and more viniagrette. I placed the sliced avocado along side along with coconut rice. This would be such a great summer meal!

This is a great recipe from Tyler Florence. If you like spice you'll love the combined heat of the jalapeno and the cooling effects of the creamy avocado. You'll need a nice piece of sushi grade tuna to fully enjoy the recipe. This is a great hot summer day recipe since it only takes a few moments to sear the tuna.
