This is an old standby for just about anything I need gravy for when I don't have drippings from meat.
- Add flour to butter in pan.
- Always use equal amounts of flour and butter.
- Stir butter and flour together until smooth and cook over low heat, stirring steadily.
- Take from heat, stir in cool milk slowly.
This is my favorite recipe for biscuits and gravy. I usually use the grease from the sausage instead of the butter. Sometimes I use 1/2 beef broth and 1/2 milk (instead of all milk). And I always add a tsp of dried onion flakes and plenty of pepper. YUMMO.
Yum! I made this and served it over chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes on a cold and rainy day. Great meal. I did add some meat drippings from the meat and lots of pepper also. Thanks for sharing this simple and yummy recipe. Made for Cookbook Tag.
