My DH loves Shrimp Pad Thai at the Bonefish Grill. Unfortunately, this is a dish they serve rarely. Now he can have it whenever the mood strikes since he thinks this recipe is just as good!
it was tasty, but there were a few things that just didnt seem right in the heat department, i trippled the recipe for guests and maybe that was my downfall, i will make this again sometime but will def tweek the recipe just a bit to make it a little more spicy and a little less fishy.
I gave the four stars, but that might be my mistake. I didn't have any hot peppers or hot chili sauce and I think that would have livened it up just a bit. I agree with the poster below that you can double the sauce. The noodles will soak it all up and that might "spice" it up a bit. I also used walnuts to substitute for peanuts and that was fine.
I used chicken stock, brown sugar and lime juice. I did not have bean sprouts or a red chilli. I added garlic powder and a little peanut butter to the sauce and used half the hot chili sauce. The lime flavor was a bit strong, in the future I would add more sugar and fish sauce. I doubled the sauce, which turned out to be a good amount. Don't worry that the sauce is runny, the noodles will soak it right up, just be sure not to over soak them! This recipe didn't blow me away, but my husband liked it.
This is a total winner. I had never made Pad Thai before (or eaten it really!), but I knew my sister loved it, so I thought I would make it for her. It is easy and absolutely delicious. I couldn't find tamarind paste, so I just used lime juice, but I will keep my eyes open for the paste for next time. I was worried there would not be enough sauce, but the noodles absorbed the little there was and it and it was perfect. Also, I had to soak my noodles several times in the hot water, finally having to used boiling water to get them soft enough to eat. Next time I will add a little more "heat". Thanks for a great recipe :)
Great pad thai! We really enjoyed the blend of sweet, spicy, and tart flavors. I used chicken stock, lime juice, brown sugar, and chicken for the ingredients with choices. Thanks for sharing! ZWT6
