    Jodi Consoli's Note:

After reading reviews of this recipe that I came up with, I learned (and should have known already) that patroleum jelly is DANGEROUS to cook with. And although I have always found it useful on my own skin, it was also pointed out that it is actually not healthy for the skin. So Please DO NOT use this recipe. It could lead to FIRE or EXPLOSION and may indeed hamper skin healing.

Honestly, though petroleum jelly doesn't allow the skin to breathe, there are times when using this would be appropriate. It should not be applied to the entire body, but it can be applied to dry areas that need special attention. Dry elbows or skin dried out by radiation therapy might greatly benefit from this recipe. It was a 'zaar recipe with petroleum jelly that healed my skin after radiation therapy. So please don't dismiss this recipe as harmful to everyone in all circumstances. And if you make it, do use a double boiler. Will assess stars after trying this. Please note that I am experienced in making lotions, soaps and candles.

Sorry, but I am going to have to agree with Desiree. Petroleum Jelly acts like Suran Wrap on the does not let the skin breath, therefore, it cannot heal.

Was really excited when seeing the title of this, but then when seeing the ingredient list was disappointed. Pertoleum jelly is in fact a drying ingredient and is also highly flammable. The reason it feels moisturising is that it inhibits the skin to breathe. So although it does lock in moisture the skin can become dependant on it to create moisture
