I make this all the time...I use sweetened condensed milk instead of half-and-half, and I reaplace the french loaf with peppridge farms cinnamon bread. (Sometimes with the raisons if my kids and DH aren't eating!!) VERY GOOD!!!
Was good, but very rich. For some reason, I don't like to eat very sweet things for breakfast. Was also a little 'eggy' tasting. I'd probably not make again.
Absolutely delicious! I made this for out of town company and we all loved it! I substituted evaporated milk for all the milk and it worked fine.
I prepared this New Year's Eve for a sweet New Year's Day breakfast! My husband and I were so thrilled about how it smelled and even happier at the taste. I followed the recipe as written. I may have added extra cinnamon, but that's the only change. Thanks for a great recipe.
This is an easy to make recipe that has a beautiful presentation. No syrup is needed, as it is very rich on it's own. I found it to be quite tasty, however my children didn't care for it. The texture is more of a custard/bread pudding than that of a typical french toast. While the kids may be a bit put off by the consistency of this dish, I'm sure many adults will enjoy it. Great recipe! I made this for breakfast for my parents and it was great! For the french bread I made my own using Failproof French Bread (Bread Machine). The only change I made was to add 1 tsp of Baking Spice - Copycat Pampered Chef Cinnamon Plus Mix instead of the cinnamon and nutmeg. I liked the fact that I could make this ahead of time and just bake it in the morning. Thanks for posting.
