We eat steel-cut oats all the time, but this tasted very strange. We decided it might be the dried fruits permeating (and overwhelming) the flavor of the oats. Next time I think we would keep the dried fruits aside, adding them in the morning, and then just giving them a few minutes to plump. I do like the ease of doing it overnight in the crockpot.

Oh dear, I think we would have liked this a lot. But the pinch of salt wasn't near enough, so I added an extra 1/4 t of salt. That didn't seem to be enough either, so I added another 1/4 t of salt and that was way too much, so then we couldn't eat it. I'll try again Lorie.
