I haven't tried this yet, but am putting it here so I don't lose it! The directions say to place on an ungreased baking pan, however I think I will put on a rack in a 9x13-inch pan--that grease has to go somewhere.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 14 cup steak sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Shake-n-Bake, plus
  • 13 cup Shake-n-Bake, divided
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 hamburger buns, split
  • 4 lettuce leaves

  1. In a bowl, combine the steak sauce and 2 tbsp of coating mix.
  2. Crumble beef over mixture and mix until combined.
  3. Shape into four patties.
  4. Dip both sides of patties in remaining coating.
  5. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or until no longer pink, turning once.

This was really good. I loved that I didn't have to fry them on the cooktop and stink up the whole house. I did increase the cook time to 30 min to allow them to brown more to my preference.

We were so happy to find this recipe, as we wanted to make hamburgers to go with our homemade potato salad tonight but didn't feel like grilling. The burgers were absolutely tender and delicious. We used Worchestershire sauce, seasoned bread crumbs, Greek seasoning, a little finely chopped sweet onion, a bit of grated Parmesan, and one egg to help things bind together, and baked them 30 minutes in a 9 X 13 glass pan, turning them twice, then topping them with sliced sharp cheddar cheese and turning off the oven to let the cheese melt. The only problem we found was that the burgers tended to crumble into several pieces on the bun, despite the added egg. However, this might be a result of the extra ingredients we added. At any rate, we loved the recipe and will definitely add it to our favorites. Thanks!

I liked this recipe, but I think I wasn't as happy with the way the burgers looked after baking. The shake and bake was not coated enough, or maybe too much. Overall, flavor was fine, but it missed the mark for me somehow. Just personal preference, I think. Thanks for posting!
