"My mom found this recipe in a "copykat" cookbook, not sure of the title, but if anyone has ever had Applebee's oriental chicken salad this is just like that. It is so so good. Try it!!"

  1. Tastes just the same as Applebees. FABULOUS

  2. This recipe is out of the world! I think it's the sauce that makes the salad. It was so close to applebee's recipe. I had a chance to eat this at applebee's the week before and totally fell in love with it. So I went looking for the recipe and also found it on copykat.com I did make some changes to the recipe as the corner store didn't have napa or red cabbage. Instead I added 2 cups of broccoli slaw, spring mix lettuce instead of the romaine lettuce. Red cidar vinegar instead of regular vinegar and I also couldn't find sesame oil so I changed it and used peanut oil. I also increased the amount to 1/4 tsp instead of 1/8. I didn't fry the chicken as I had 1/2 a grilled chicken from the night before leftover and I have to say I didn't miss the fact that it wasn't fried at all. That really cut down on the prep time and caleries. I know this seems like a lot of changes but my husband and I both loved it. I did notice that I couldn't taste the almonds in this salad so I was thinking that next time I'll add chopped peanuts and see how that will taste. A few days ago I ordered from Applebee's and got the oriental chicken salad again. To my amazement I was disappointed with the salad. I loved the changes I had made so much that I doubt I'll order it again.
