This recipe is out of the world! I think it's the sauce that makes the salad. It was so close to applebee's recipe. I had a chance to eat this at applebee's the week before and totally fell in love with it. So I went looking for the recipe and also found it on copykat.com I did make some changes to the recipe as the corner store didn't have napa or red cabbage. Instead I added 2 cups of broccoli slaw, spring mix lettuce instead of the romaine lettuce. Red cidar vinegar instead of regular vinegar and I also couldn't find sesame oil so I changed it and used peanut oil. I also increased the amount to 1/4 tsp instead of 1/8. I didn't fry the chicken as I had 1/2 a grilled chicken from the night before leftover and I have to say I didn't miss the fact that it wasn't fried at all. That really cut down on the prep time and caleries. I know this seems like a lot of changes but my husband and I both loved it. I did notice that I couldn't taste the almonds in this salad so I was thinking that next time I'll add chopped peanuts and see how that will taste. A few days ago I ordered from Applebee's and got the oriental chicken salad again. To my amazement I was disappointed with the salad. I loved the changes I had made so much that I doubt I'll order it again.
