I did not make the cupcakes as I used my own recipe for that. As for the frosting, I had to make alterations as it was way too thick to put through my decorating applicators however, if you all the oreos a little at a time you will get the right consistency. I made my cupcakes with this icing and everyone loved them. I made four dozen (for work) and had the "pleasure" of not taking any home with me. I personally think this is a great recipe, for the frosting. A few tweaks here and the but nothing major. If you add the dry ingredients little by little, it will turn out just fine!

The frosting was very sweet, but I loved the crushed up oreos in it. I added some crushed up oreos to the batter and I think that made the actual cupcake part better.

Thought the instructions were not very clear (which bowl to beat the eggs into, and if you were supposed to incorporate the dry and wet via electric mixer or by hand) - I don't bake a lot so that could be why. They came out good, not great, the oreo cookie in the bottom was not as great as I expected.

I added 3/4 cup Hershey's dark cocoa powder to the dry ingredients when I sifted them together. The cupcakes were fantastic with this addition!

The frosting has no "wet" ingredients in it so you have to add about one half of a cup of milk to the frosting. Also instead of putting half an oreo to the top just crush extra Oreos and sprinkle them on top. Lastly the serving size I got was 36 cupcakes not 24.

It would be great if the photo matched the recipe. This recipe has no chocolate in the cupcake batter! Cupcakes are not bad, but the picture should reflect the recipe!

If you go onto the actual website where this recipe originally came from (TideandThyme.com) you will see that this is supposed to be a yellow cupcake with Oreo frosting. I do agree that it would be helpful if the picture on Food.com actually matched the recipe. That being said, if you search the web you will find many recipes for chocolate cupcakes with an Oreo baked into the bottom and Oreo buttercream frosting.

Frosting has no wet ingredients, so like someone else said it needs about 1 tbsp. milk. Just made the frosting and didn't like it at all. Too sweet and butter flavoring was completely unnecessary and made it worse. Had to alter recipe a lot.
