Oreo Balls

"My sister's co-worker brought these to a party and they were quite a hit. I don't know where the recipe came from originally. "Bark" is an artificial chocolate or vanilla candy coating/confectioner's coating used to make a treat called almond bark and can be found at most grocery stores near the chocolate chips. You can use chocolate chips and white chocolate chips if you don't have almond bark, but I have found that almond bark melts better and is easier to work with."

  • Using a blender or hand held mixer, mix Oreos and cream cheese together.

  • Melt approximately 3/4 package of white almond bark.
  • Stick a toothpick in an Oreo ball and dip it in the melted white almond bark.
  • Allow to harden on wax paper.
  • Takes about 15 minute.
  • While waiting, melt about 1/4 package of chocolate almond bark.
  • When Oreo balls are no longer sticky to the touch, decorate with drizzles of chocolate and white almond bark.
  • I just use a sandwich bag with a tiny hole cut in one corner to drizzle the almond bark.

  3. I couldn't find only Oreo crumbs, so I bought the packs of the cookies. Do I use the whole Oreo or scrape the filling off and just use the cookie part?

  4. Do these need to be refrigerated?

  5. Does the recipe use 1 lbs packages of oreos? The regular 1lb packages say 9.5oz. Also do you use regular or double stuff?

Reviews

  1. This recipe tastes great but from my experience, these don't turn out well with a hand mixer. The easiest (and least messy!) way is to simply toss the cookies in a blender and chop... once they're a crumb-like consistency, then add the cream cheese and use the hand mixer in a large bowl so they're smooth. This way, they roll into a nice round ball without the big cookie chunks the hand mixer cannot crush. Enjoy! (:

  2. Soaked Whole Maraschino Cherries in alcohol for 2 to 3 hours. Draind them on paper towel and than covered with Oreo Mix. Everyone loved them.

  3. Absolutely a 5-star winner and so easy! I took another reviewer's advice and put the Oreos into the blender on "chop" until they were the crumb consistency I wanted. I then used my KitchenAid mixer to blend the crumbs and cream cheese, used a cookie/melon baller to make perfect round balls, and set them all in the freezer til solid. I had no problem dipping them into the melted almond bark and still keeping them in perfect form. It didn't take long to thaw out and everyone loved them, even with using Reduced Fat Oreos and 1/3 reduced fat cream cheese.

  4. Guess what? These FREEZE beautifully! If you can make yourself stop eating them on the way to the freezer! Stored in a Ziploc bag for 1 month, and they were great! A holiday regular from now on!

  5. These are sooo easy and yummy!! I've made these for many occasions. The latest one being Halloween where I dipped them into white chocolate and used Life Saver gummies as irises, upside chocolate chips as pupils and red food coloring for "veins". Make for a scary treat that everyone LOVES! (see the picture I posted.) I also recommend taking out the cream centers first and mixing with the cream cheese then adding the finely crushed cookies. Seems to make for a smoother ball to dip.

Tweaks

  1. i love bts more than these

  2. This recipe was very helpful, however I changed a few things. I prefer using chocolate chips and white chocolate chips instead of the almond bark. It just tastes more like real chocolate that way. Also, contrary to the other reviews I used a hand mixer to finish blending it and it worked fabulously! There were no chunks of cookies at all. I did crush the cookies very well by hand first but the mixer did a good job of finishing turning the cookies into crumbs and mixing in the cream cheese. My last change was that instead of using toothpicks and dipping my balls I use a spoon and pour the chocolate over them, rounding it around the bottom as I went along because I don't like having little holes at the top of my treats.

  3. I like this stuff a lot!My class agreed that this recipe is the bomb!

  4. In mini chopper, crush candy canes to light chunk - powder and add to Oreo mixture. Really brings out all flavors

  5. I took the oreo balls and pinched the top into two ears, then dipped them. They looked like cute Easter bunnies!
