A delightful treat on a hot day. For variation, try substituting other flavours of jello and kool-aid. As my ice-cream machine is not large, it will not quite hold this whole recipe. I put the excess into a small container and freeze it, stirring a couple times. Freezing time is not included in this recipe because of differences in various ice-cream machines.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 85.04 g package orange Jell-O
  • 6 g package orange kool-aid
  • 354.88 ml sugar
  • 236.59 ml water
  • 946.36 ml milk

  1. Combine jello, kool-aid, sugar and water in a pot.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Cool.
  5. Stir in milk.
  6. Freeze in an ice-cream machine according to manufacturers directions.
  7. Scrape into a freezer container and freeze until as hard as you like, if necessary.

Absolutely lovely and so easy. My grandkids now think their "Papa" is some kind of magician. One note of warning: The recipe says this makes 1-1/4 quarts, but running the EXACT recipe in my Cuisinart two quart machine for 30 minutes (manufacturer's recommendation) actually produces 2-1/4 quarts. That's okay, as I am "forced" to eat the excess cup, as I have no 1 cup freezing containers. ;<{D

This is fantastic! So simple! It is very sweet. I used cherry jello and koolaid and paired it with Jerry's Chocolate Ice cream Jerry's Chocolate Ice Cream and it tasted like a cherry cordial! Delicious!! I can't wait to experiment with other flavors!
