Really tastes just like the Orange Julius in the mall.
- 1 1⁄4 cups orange juice (no pulp)
- 1⁄2 cup water
- 1⁄2 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 1 1⁄2 cups ice
- Combine all of the ingredients except ice in a blender and blend on high speed for 15 seconds or until the sugar is disolved.
- Add the ice and blend for another 30 seconds or until ice is completely crushed.
I thought this was very good, I didn't like the idea of raw egg whites either so I just used egg white substitute and I think it gave me the frothiness they were meant for. I'll be making this again, especially during the summer months.
I was looking for a julius recipe that tasted like the shop version...this is really close. I've been making a version for years that called for frozen OJ concentrate - its consistency was always more like a smoothie...definitely good but not the same. I've never put raw eggs in mine (yuck), so I omitted the egg whites in the recipe....still tastey.
This was great - just like the mall. I have a teenager who is always in a hurry - this is a great way to get some fruit into him on the go - Thanks
