Orange Crunch Cake

I haven't tried this yet, but I plan to soon. (I might make homemade yellow cake batter instead of using a mix, but I thought I should post the recipe as is.)

Delicious! Everyone at work loved it. I used the juice from the orange I zested for extra orange flavor. Do watch it under the broiler; it crisps quickly.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 18 ounces yellow cake mix
  • 3 eggs (or as called for by your cake mix)
  • 13 cup oil (or as called for by your cake mix)
  • 1 13 cups water (or as called for by your cake mix)
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine, softened
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups frosted flakes, crushed to 1 1/2 cups
  • 23 cup orange marmalade


  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F.
  2. Grease a 9x13". baking pan.
  3. Prepare mix according to package directions, adding grated orange peel to batter.
  4. Pour into pan.
  5. Bake 20-30 minutes or until cake tests done.
  6. Meanwhile, cream butter and sugar.
  7. Mix in cinnamon and Sugar Frosted Flakes.
  8. Spread orange marmalade on warm cake.
  9. Sprinkle with crumb mixture.
  10. Place under broiler 6 inches from heat, for approximately 1 minute. (Watch carefully).
  11. Best served same day. If stored longer, before serving, recrisp under broiler for approximately 30 seconds.
