  • Saute the scallions, celery and green apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool.
  • Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add sauteed items and the pepper sauce, lemon juice and zest, parsley, chutney.
  • Shape into 8-8 oz burger patties, cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  • Season the turkey burgers with the salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill and grill for 7 minutes each side or until the meat is thoroughly cooked.
  • To make the side of pear chutney, toss peeled and diced pear with cinnamon and sea salt.
  • Place on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Let cool.
  • Add pear to chutney and currants/raisins.

  1. This recipe is WRONG. If you look at the mar a lago recipe it is 1 tablespoon of pepper, NOT 2. That makes the pepper way too overpowering. Only 1 Tb pepper and its an awesome recipe.

  2. This is a great burger. Really moist. Make sure you cut the celery really thin. The burgers are great on there own.

  3. We found that the lemon zest overpowered all other flavors in this burger. The chutney (which is mostly sugar) in the mix made them burn on the outside. After I turned down the heat, they turned out tender and juicy. This was my first attempt at turkey burgers, but I won't make this recipe again. I think the onions and herbs are a good start, but no more lemon zest for us!!

  4. LOVE it!

  5. Love these burgers and so did our friends at the BBQ. Need to be almost 1/2 lb so they don't fall apart, and better to grill first side on foil. Food processor helps shorten food prep time.

  1. First I have to apologize I posted this recipe - I did not find yours- The filter didn't work - I will ask to have mine removed. Loved the recipe. One of the best turkey burgers that I have had. I used my mini shopper for the apples & Celery & I used Shallots instead of scallions. For the hot sauce I used Mama Zulu's Hot African sauce. MMmm is all I can say.

56, an Army brat who has lived in 20 different locations [born in germany, went to kindergarten in japan] including new york city, palo alto CA, maine, georgia, chicago, after growing up in small-town kansas... have some fabulous recipes from well-traveled army people... recently started adding just a splash of bourbon or brandy to real maple syrup - and it really gives french toast or pancakes a special, more sophisticated flavor... a friend jokes that bourbon is my new "secret ingredient" that i'll be adding to everything - it's not true but i'm telling you - you should try it! it's really very good [for adults, anyway] sugarpea's apple pancake recipe is a deadringer for Walker Brothers Pancake House in north shore Chicago - i've searchd for this for 34 years - and it's easy as well as To Die For!!! the Dutch Baby pancake is a huge seller there too - with the same gooey comfort-food but elegant batter... also if you search for lettuce wrap - the 2 recipes for PF Chang's come up... this is also SO GOOD, truly a memorable entree... for cookbooks: With a Jug of Wine, More Recipes With a Jug of Wine were written by the San Francisco Chronicle food writer decades ago - and most everything in them is superb - and i learned a lot as a new cook, young wife, from reading through them in the late 1970s... i got a [very French] sense of food as a way of life
