Oprah's Favorite Turkey Burger

Ingredients:

Serves: 8

Yield: 8.0 burgers

• ¼ cup scallion , thinly sliced
• ½ cup celery , finely chopped
• 3 granny smith apples , peeled and diced
• 1⁄8; cup canola oil
• 4 lbs ground turkey breast
• 2 tablespoons salt
• 1 tablespoon black pepper
• 2 teaspoons Tabasco chipotle pepper sauce
• 1 lemon, juice and zest of , grated
• ½ bunch parsley , finely chopped
• ¼ cup Major Grey chutney , pureed

Directions:

1. Sauté the scallions, celery and apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool.
2. Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add sautéed items and the remaining ingredients. Shape into eight 8-ounce burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours.
3. Season the turkey burgers with salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill. Grill each side for 7 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked. Let sit for 5 minutes.

My husband loved it! I seasoned the grated apples with onion and left the scallions out; I also left out celery and added celery salt. I also nixed the chutney because I don't know what that is. The kids sense something was "Different", but they ate it up when they tasted it! Success!

Interesting. I have never made turkey burgers before and neither of us hated or loved it.

I also reduced the amount of salt and pepper and omitted the lemon; and shredded the apple in my food processor. Other than that, made as directed. Marvelous! I will definitely be making these again.
