I was surprised to see this recipe here! Now I don't have to post it. The recipe is 25 years old, older than some of you! Anyway, it's simple, quick and can be made ahead. Good with all the steaks you will be grilling out soon. It's a prettier color with regular onions, though. That washed-out purple is kinda drab. . . . Janet

  1. Place the onions in a non stick frying pan. Add the stock and wine.
  2. Simmer gently, uncovered, until the liquid is almost gone.
  3. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
