- 1 cup tempura batter frying mix
- 1⁄4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1⁄8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1⁄2 cup water
- 1⁄4 cup beer
- 1 large white onion, cut into thick slices (extra-large)
- 6 cups vegetable oil, in deep fryer
- Preheat fryer to 375.
- Combine tempura, spices, water and beer to make a batter.
- Dip the onion rings into the batter and drop into heated oil.
- Cook 3-5 minutes, or until a golden brown.
