Made for your Football Pool win, you cannot go wrong w/homemade bread around our house & onion bread is a much-favored choice. Like other reviewers, I "made it my own" by using 1 cup whole wheat flour, caraway seed vs fennel & an unmeasured amt of extra garlic. The aroma got our immediate attention, so it didn't get the full amt of "rest time". It was way too good still warm w/butter & made great toast the next morning. My much-belated congrats on your Football Pool win & thx for posting this yummy recipe. :-).

I loved the flavor of this bread. I divided it into 8 pieces and made rolls. Unfortunately they didn't rise very well and looked more like flatbread than rolls. The yeast was new so that shouldn't have been an issue. I will definately make these again and add a bit more yeast.

Liked this a lot. The onion, garlic, and herbs give a great flavour. I would cut the salt back a little next time, just personal preference, other than that an excellent recipe. Thank you for posting.

Delightful! I made the dough in the machine, and baked it at 400 F. for about 25 minutes. It made the house smell just like Thanksgiving! Great for sandwiches and/or toast. Thanks for posting!

Good stuff. Not as flavourful as I'd have liked by following recipe. The next time I doubled all the flavourings and added a little extra water. Used onion powder instead of onion flakes and salt. 3Tbs in the super-flavour version. To make it really savoury, I also added 3/4 tsp of chicken stock powder. Tastes like a herb dumpling. Yum. Forgot lemon juice both times so far. Suspect this does no harm.

A lovely bread that is packed with delicious herbiness....and the smell while it's baking...well,it's amazing! Personally,I would lose the fennel,but that's just my preference,and it certainly isn't stopping us from enjoying it. Thanks Mikekey.

Everyone at dinner really enjoyed this bread. I served it with a herb coated chicken. I used 1 cup whole wheat flour and 2 cups bread flour. It would make great turkey sandwiches.

I baked this is a loaf pan and was particularly pleased that it was easy to slice into thin slices, which some of us prefer. I have to admit that I cheated a little bit by using an Italian seasoning blend instead of most of the herbs, as I am supposed to stay off my feet and just wanted to get all the ingredients into the machine. Did not have any fennel. Used milk instead of water and dry milk. Very very good tasting bread. Terrific turkey sandwich, and I ate a piece just plain, with nothing on it - yum!

This is delicious! I'm thinking it would make a great stuffing for Christmas. I do know that it makes great toast. I substituted dill week for the fennel, next time I will use the fennel as I now have some :) This will be made again and again. Thank you for posting mikekey it is delicious.

Mike, this is a real winner! The aroma while baking in my bread machine was luscious and prepared me for the terrific panini roast beef sandwiches I made with it. We're not fennel fans, so I left that out. I also had only 2 cups of bread flour, so used 1 cup of whole wheat for the final cup. Very tender and full of herb-y flavor. thanks mikekey!
