One of my favorites especially for a picnic. This recipe has always been around growing up.
- 1⁄4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1⁄2 cup sour cream
- 1 large cucumber, sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- In a bowl, combine oil, vinegar, sugar, water, sour cream and salt.
- Add cucumber and onion. Toss to coat.
- Refrigerate several hours or overnight.
A very nice and tasty salad. I cut back on the sugar but otherwise made it as directed. Simple and good. Thanks 4-H Mom. Made for 1-2-3 Tag.
A very nice and refreshing salad. Almost like the German cucumber salad but without the dill. This is easy to prepare, but I would not add the water next time because the cucumber makes its own. Thanks for posting. :)
Very nice salad. Made using half a large red onion and plain fat free Greek yogurt. This is quite a bit sweeter then the cucumber salads we are used to eating. Thinking next time will cut the sugar down. Really liked the consistency of the dressing not to thin or to thick. Thanks so much for the post.
