Onion Cheddar Bread

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 8 teaspoons butter, divided
  • 12 cup chopped onion
  • 12 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 12 cups biscuit mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seed, divided
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced into rings and halved

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a medium skillet.
  3. Add chopped onion and saute until tender, 5-6 minutes.
  4. Combine milk and egg.
  5. Add biscuit mix and stir until just moistened.
  6. Stir in onions, 1/2 cup cheese, and 1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds.
  7. Spread in a greased 8" round pan.
  8. Sprinkle remaining cheese and poppy seeds on top.
  9. Melt 2 teaspoons butter in the same skillet.
  10. Add sliced onion and saute until wilted, 3-4 minutes.
  11. Arrange sliced onion over top of dough.
  12. Melt remaining butter and drizzle over top.
  13. Bake 20 minutes.
  14. Cut into 8 wedges and serve warm.
