what a yummy sauce - I only had herb and garlic cream cheese and coffee cream (18%). I think it turned out great. I will make it again.
I love this recipe so much! In fact, I'd rather have this alfredo sauce than go out for Italian. It is THAT good. It is also quick and easy to make. I used minced garlic instead of powder, kraft Italian blend cheese instead of just plain parmesan, and Philadelia Italian Cooking Creme instead of plain cream cheese. Essentially the same as the recipe but with a more personal flair. I like to serve over angel hair with grilled chicken. Kraft also makes a good parmesan seasoning if you want some flavorful chicken.
Great Recipe. Best I've had since Olive Garden. Definite Keeper!
Next time I will use less Parmesan cheese and add more cream cheese.(Personal Preference)
Reduced both the cream cheese and butter to 2 Tbs each, and increased the parmesan to 1 cup. Added 1/4 c milk. Delicious. Thanks for the recipe! Very forgiving - it's hard to wait until the sauce thickens before adding the cheese, but it totally works. PS - Our sauce thickened in 15 minutes (instead of 30). So, you might not have to wait the full 25 min.
I made this for dd and sil when I stayed a nite with them. They loved it and so did I Only thing I did different was to ad 2T more cream cheese.and some cooked diced chicken. Also, cheese other than cream, cheddar, swiss and mozzarella are very expensive here, so I didn't use the romano chunk cheese (was almost $10) I used the little tub of shredded romano instead. It worked ok, but think it would have been smoother and creamier with the chunk. Also, dd had bought the dried alredo pasta with basil and garlic in it. It was very good! dh was miffed because he missed it, so 2 nites later I made it again at home. I used fresh alfredo noodles, but actually liked the dried better. dh loves this sauce and we'll make it often! Thanks so much for posting! Kitty
It's not Olive Gardens but it is fantastic! I got a little worried when it looked like my butter and cream cheese were curdling, and again when it seemed like it would never thicken...but everything turned out perfect! I did use 3 T. cream cheese and 1 1/2 t. garlic powder and a bit of parsley. I was always afraid of homemade Alfredo sauce, but NO more! Thanks Di for the decedent treat!
This was great. I searched all over for a cheese sauce that didn't have a flour base since I am on Atkins. This was perfect. We were celebrating a holiday that it is traditional to eat lots of dairy products. I made this sauce for people to put on pasta, but I poured it on my salmon and my cauliflower and everything else because I loved it. Thanks.
Very goof sauce! Needed to add a little more cheese to get the flavor, but overall very good!
Nice sauce. Made half a recipe to use in Italian Nachos. Still have some left so will serve with pasta.
I made this for the first time tonight. Doubled the cream cheese and used freshly grated Parmesan. Otherwise, followed recipe exactly and it turned out so very good! Will make again. This is the first time I've neen able to successfully make Alfredo sauce. Well written recipe. So many others don't tell you to remove from heat before adding cheese. For us novice cooks, those little bits really help. Thanks!
