Next time, I would add more cream cheese, as the sauce was a little too thin. Otherwise, very good and easy to make. Added grilled chicken strips to the pasta, then slathered on this yummy sauce.

I don't normally care for alfredo sauce - sometimes it's very heavy and bland. This one was very flavorful, though. I used light cream cheese (all I buy), and I actually increased the amount to four ounces. I didn't have a full pint of cream, so I topped off what I had with fat-free half-and-half. Mixed this with some Garlic and Herb frozen shrimp that I buy at BJ's, broccoli, carrots, green beans, and served it over fettuccine. When the fancy strikes me, I also add a tsp. of Chipotle chili powder. I'm impressed, and so were all the people I served it to.

This is very good. I cut the recipe in half. I added fresh minced garlic to the butter before I added the cream. I also added a pinch of cayenne pepper, crushed red pepper, chili powder, and italian seasoning since I was making a cajun alfredo. I added 1/2 cup of parmesan, asiago, and mozzerella because parmesan is really expensive where I live. It took about 25 minutes as expected, but it was worth it. The boyfriend said it was the best alfredo he had ever had.

Oh Di, this is delicious! I used 1/2 and 1/2 cream, because that's what I had on hand, and fresh grated parmesean. Used 1 tsp of garlic powder, then added a fresh clove (grated).Served on penne pasta and topped with fresh parsley.

This Sauce is very simple to make and a huge hit. BEWARE... it will ruin your Alfredo experiences with store bought, and even many restaurant Alfredo Sauces. However the time to make it is well worth it and a sauce we make even on busy nights. This has become a requested recipe anytime I have made it for someone else.

This is a great alfredo sauce! I used minced garlic instead of garlic powder and it gives so much more flavor! This is definitely a hit in my house!

Great Recipe. Best I've had since Olive Garden. Definite Keeper!
Next time I will use less Parmesan cheese and add more cream cheese.(Personal Preference)

This was really good! I used half & half on accident, added a dash (or 3) of Italian Seasoning and it turned out great!

Reduced both the cream cheese and butter to 2 Tbs each, and increased the parmesan to 1 cup. Added 1/4 c milk. Delicious. Thanks for the recipe! Very forgiving - it's hard to wait until the sauce thickens before adding the cheese, but it totally works. PS - Our sauce thickened in 15 minutes (instead of 30). So, you might not have to wait the full 25 min.

I made this for dd and sil when I stayed a nite with them. They loved it and so did I Only thing I did different was to ad 2T more cream cheese.and some cooked diced chicken. Also, cheese other than cream, cheddar, swiss and mozzarella are very expensive here, so I didn't use the romano chunk cheese (was almost $10) I used the little tub of shredded romano instead. It worked ok, but think it would have been smoother and creamier with the chunk. Also, dd had bought the dried alredo pasta with basil and garlic in it. It was very good! dh was miffed because he missed it, so 2 nites later I made it again at home. I used fresh alfredo noodles, but actually liked the dried better. dh loves this sauce and we'll make it often! Thanks so much for posting! Kitty

It's not Olive Gardens but it is fantastic! I got a little worried when it looked like my butter and cream cheese were curdling, and again when it seemed like it would never thicken...but everything turned out perfect! I did use 3 T. cream cheese and 1 1/2 t. garlic powder and a bit of parsley. I was always afraid of homemade Alfredo sauce, but NO more! Thanks Di for the decedent treat!

This was great. I searched all over for a cheese sauce that didn't have a flour base since I am on Atkins. This was perfect. We were celebrating a holiday that it is traditional to eat lots of dairy products. I made this sauce for people to put on pasta, but I poured it on my salmon and my cauliflower and everything else because I loved it. Thanks.

Made this last night and my kids and husband could not get enough. I added two extra tablespoons of the cream cheese for thickness and it was DELICIOUS! I will never buy Alfredo again and who needs Olive Garden! LOL.

Delish! I made this recipe tonight using low-fat cream cheese, but otherwise following all directions. I was concerned that the cream cheese and butter remained "separate" instead of blending together smoothly like I thought they would in Step 2. But, when I added the cream and the sauce cooked, they all blended beautifully. This is a terrific recipe that we'll definitely use again! I added finely chopped broccoli so my youngsters couldn't pick it out. Worked like a charm! Update: I made tonight without cream cheese and didn't notice a difference. One less ingredient to buy at the grocery store! :)

My husband is a major alfredo lover, I made this for his bday and he ranted and raved that this was the BEST alfredo he has ever had. I agree 100%! I pretty much followed the recipe only I added a little mozzarella, Cajun seasoning, shrimp scampi then served over linguini pasta. This is now a household fav!! Thanks for the recipe.

Very, very good! I had been using the recipe from Everyday Italian and it was just too lemony with no garlic at all, my family did not really care for it. This they absolutely loved!! I like lots of sauce so I made 1.5 X the recipe. Used half and half and added probably 2 cups of parmesean. This will be my standard recipe from now on!!

This was the absolute best. I did use more cheese than was called for, about an extra 1/2 cup.
