We thoroughly enjoyed this. I did not have any sausage, so used an pound of ground beef. I don't usually gave red wine so I substituted chicken broth and a bit of red wine vinegar. Our crushed tomatoes was 28 ounces, Made a nice thick meat sauce. Nice since everything was on hand.

I thought this recipe was great and my husband loved it. next time i think i will leave out the sausage, but that's just me. thanks!

This was delicious and satisfied both my husband's and my cravings for a hearty full-bodied meaty spaghetti sauce that has all the ingredients we like in in it. I did Slooow-simmer this, so of course it took much longer to cook, which is what I wanted. I had a question about the sage-rosemary seasoning combination, which Carol cleared up. I tripled the recipe and I'll definitely be making this again! Thanks Lorac for sharing such a great recipe!
