Inez: this recipe reminds me of my mother's recipe for potato salad. We, too, are from kentucky. Mom was forced to quit school when only thirteen years old and she went to work washing dishes in a neighborhood restaurant called "the village kitchen", in catlettsburg, ky. Years later she came away with a great cooking education. As I remember it she never deviated from her ingredients for the dressing. She insisted on miracle whip salad dressing, carnation evaporated milk, and probably used more than twice the amount of sugar that you call for in your recipe. I have hardly budged from the computer since finding recipezaar. From one kentucky hillbilly to another, thank you for all your great recipes. My family is enjoying them to the hilt.

I can't believe this doesn't have 5 stars yet! Well, it does now! This salad is excellent. I didn't add the onion because my husband doesn't like it. I didn't have any relish, so I used chopped pickles. I used Miracle Whip for the dressing. The celery adds a nice crunch. This one's a winner!

This is similiar to the potato salad I used to make but so much better. I was worried that there would be too much of an egg taste--but there wasn't at all--it was just perfect. I added one tomato, cut into wedges on top of the salad before sprinkling it with the final egg and paprika. Thanks MizzNezz this is the potato salad we will be having from now on.

Enjoyed this salad very much. I added the dressing a little at a time until I got the consistency I wanted. Used the extra dressing I didn't use for a green salad the next day. Thank you MizzNezz for a great recipe.

This is just the best potato salad ...I like it for the non mustard. I have made this one many times. My familes cooks are experts at their potato salads and this recipes is right up there with them... Very good and easy to do.

What an easy and very delicious potato salad! It's FABULOUS!! I mashed a potato. And it became very creamy. VERY YUM! Because I wanted to make it low calories, I reduced it to mayonnaise 1 cup and did 1/2 cup in yogurt. Because I did not have celery, I substituted it in a cucumber. And I added slice ham. I'm sorry I have forgotten to sprinkle in paprika. I thank you and your mother very much. Thank you for sharing.

Well, it was way too sweet for me, but my very picky toddler couldn't get enough of it.

This was quite good - nice creamy texture. Sorry - I typically follow the recipe the first go around but didn't today (had no celery or eggs boiled). I did only use half the amount of celery seed and cider vinegar. I used cream, green onions, 1/4 tsp. dry mustard and a few strips of diced bacon. I was a little surprised at the sweetness but everyone liked it just the way it was. I would definitely make this again. I think my changes were not different enough to alter the original recipe taste so I would rate it 5 stars. Cat

I liked this potato salad very much. It is close to my family's recipe (being from Ohio), but we add pickles. I did let the flavors mingle overnight and tried it, and decided I couldn't live without the pickles and added them. It was the crunch and the saltiness my taste buds were looking for. I do like the little bite that the cider vinegar gives to the salad. Very nice!

Very tasty potato salad!... Today i am making it again and i love it. I made it before for my Baby Shower and i could not stop getting so many complements. I did not have sweet relish but i used pickles and it was as delicious. This is definitely a keeper and also you can add other ingredients to it like olives, red pepper or peas. Very yummy :)

Very tasty and addictive. I didn't use any celery seed or eggs but it was delicious all the same. My mom grew up in Kentucky so I made this for her and she enjoyed it as much as I did. Quick tip: I add a tablespoon of vinegar to the potato cooking water which helps them retain their texture rather than becoming mushy and mashed when you mix all the ingredients.

This was my first attempt at making potato salad and I got thumbs up ratings from everyone! My husband said its the best potato salad he's ever had and I better keep making it....even better than grandmas. The only thing I left out was the eggs since I don't really care for them.
