This is my grandmother's recipe for pineapple cake filling.

  1. In a heavy saucepan, melt butter.
  2. Add sugar and evaporated milk to melted butter and stir.
  3. Stir in egg yolks and cook over medium heat until mixture thickens-- about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in drained pineapple.
  5. Pour over warm cake.
