Use your favorite, cheap "O" shaped oat cereal to approximate chips/popcorn/salty snacky things!

  1. Melt butter or margarine in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add cereal, toss to coat. It's not necessary to have the cereal saturated or totally coated, as the butter/margarine in this recipe is mostly to get the seasonings to stick.
  3. Brown cereal lightly.
  4. just before you take them out of the pan, season with salt, chili powder, garlic, parmesean, whatever you like. We do all of the above, separately and all together sometimes. Give them a few final stirs to toast the parmesean cheese a bit, and serve. These keep nicely in an airtight container for about a week -- if they hang around that long!

I cut the recipe in half since I wasn't sure how well they would be received in this household - next time I will double the recipe! I used some italian seasoning and it was delicious! I also was curious to see how this would store but I turned my back and it was gone. Next time I will photograph and hide it :) Made and enjoyed for PAC, Spring 2009

These were a big hit with my whole family and very, VERY easy to make. I used the 1/4 cup of butter, about 5 cups of oat rings and sprinkled 'em with cajun foreplay seasoning blend and some no-salt seasoning for good measure. I am curious to see how they'll store but that'll have to wait until next time since there wern't any left last night! These are inexpensive to make and very versatile. The perfect snack for TV watching. Made for PAC spring 2008, and will be made again (probably tonight!)

This is a fun snack. I used 1/4 c. margarine, and once it melted, it looked like an awful lot, so I used 4 cups of Cheerios instead of 2. I seasoned them with garlic & chili powder, salt, and a little black pepper while browning them. They're a quick and tasty treat that we enjoyed very much. Thanks!
