Simple, easy & delicious. So much better than those packets. Nice that you can add or substitute fruit or other items as desired. Smells yummy cooking. Found this on Sweet Happy Life.
- Combine all ingredients in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and reduce to medium heat stirring frequently, about 5 minutes until milk is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and cool for several minutes.
This was a great breakfast. The maple syrup and brown sugar gave it just the right touch of sweetness. But cooking the oats in milk (I usually cook them in water) gave it such a creamy texture that was a pleasant surprise. Thank you for sharing your recipe, Queen Puff. Made for Fal 2012 Pick-A-Chef.
This recipe is a lot quicker than the one on the back of the rolled oats package. I doubted whether the oats would cook in such a short time. Because it's high heat, it did. The only downside is stirring for 5 minutes. If you don't want to stir for 5 minutes, bring everything to a boil and reduce heat and cook 10 to 20 minutes (depending on what consistency you like your oatmeal) stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let sit for a couple of minutes.
Made for a great beginning of my day. I can hardly wait to see about how the rest of it goes. Made for Best of 2012 recipe tag.
