These are definitely not your light and airy waffle. They are a hearty, to stick the ribs type of breakfast treat. I had been looking forward to serving these with some fresh berries but alas the berries had gone bad. They were drizzled with maple syrup. Made for ZWT9.

So, I'm sick and in the hospital, but my husband has been cooking for the ZWT9 challenges and for himself and our kids. They really enjoyed this breakfast and he said it was easy to prepare. Hearty waffles! We loved the oatmeal. I halved the recipe and it made two and a half waffles in our machine. I didn't think the waffles would turn out well because the batter was super thick, but I spread it around and it worked! Thank you for a tasty and healthy breakfast treat!
