A loaf made with turnips and oats. From "The New McDougall Cookbook". Freezes well.

Directions

  1. Boil turnips for 25 minutes or until tender, and drain.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  3. Peel outer tough layer of turnips.
  4. Mash turnips (with potato masher).
  5. Place in a big bowl and combine with all ingredients.
  6. Press into loaf pan - fits into 1 large 9 1/4" x 5 1/4" loaf pan, OR 3 small 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" loaf pans.
  7. Bake for 1 hour or until set.
  8. Rest for 15 minutes.
  9. Loosen sides and invert onto a plate to serve.
