oatmeal base and top with a layer of chocolate fudge inbetween. The following recipe has two different fillings. One with sweetned condensed milk or one with reg. milk which is not as sweet. Both are very good.

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Cream the butter and brown sugar well.
  2. Add egg, vanilla and again beat or mix well.
  3. Add dry ingredients and mix.
  4. Pat 2/3 of the crumb mixture into a 7 x 11 greased baking tin set aside at least one cup of the crumbs for top.
  5. Either use filling one or two for the centre-- Filling one-- melt chipits ( semi sweet chocolate chips) with butter and milk add nuts and vanilla.
  6. Pour over the base evenly.
  7. add the last of the crumb topping and press lightly.
  8. Filling two-- In a saucepan add the sweetned condensed milk and butter, add the chipits and salt.
  9. Melt and stir well Remove add the pecans if desired.
  10. Pour over base Press the remainder of the crumb base over the top.
  11. Bake in oven 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
  12. Cool well, then cut.
  13. Note: Chipits are another name for semi sweet chcolate chips -- Also note filling number two does make a thick centre in the bar, if using the size pan as stated.

Super yummy! So rich, that I had to give plates of cookies away so that I wouldn' tmake myself sick eating them all! These were a hit with everyone who tried them and will definitely become one of my "standard" recipes! thanks for shaing! (BTW, I doubled the recipe and used a 15.5"x10.5" insulated cookie sheet/jelly roll pan. And I used filling #1 with evaporated milk, instead of regular milk.) YUMMM!

Very tasty! I used filling #1 and I like that it isn't terribly sweet. I don't know what chipits are... so I used semi-sweet chips since I had them on hand. I do not have a 7x11 pan, but I found that an 8x8 works just fine! Next time I think I'll try the filling #2 just so I'll know for sure which I like best.

I wanted to try a smaller pan of these bars so this recipe fit the bill. I used Filling #2 and this made a lot of filling. I only used about 1/2 of it and still had a thick layer of chocolate in the bars.
