This is one of my family's traditional cakes. It's quick, easy, and delicious. And it's a good (and fun!) way to eat oatmeal.
Directions:

Bring the water to a rolling boil and pour it over the oatmeal; let stand for 20 minutes (DO NOT DRAIN).

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Add the oleo and sugar, and then add the eggs and vanilla; beat well.

Add the baking soda, flour, and salt; mix until smooth.

Pour the batter into a 9x12 loaf pan.

Bake at 350 F for 35-40 minutes.

Topping:.

Mix the ingredients together and apply to cake while hot.

Put the cake under the broiler until the top is golden brown.

What a great way to make oatmeal, which I don't really care for. I keep trying oatmeal as oatmeal, and there have been very few I would recommend! Your's is among that small group.
