In 2005 I had back surgery. My Mom came for a week to watch the kids/take care of the house. She made these for the boys and they devoured them she said. I don't know how many these make. I know at least 3 dozen - so that is the amount I will put. Okay - I have tried at least 2 different times to edit this recipe on the directions. More than one person has wanted to make it so I will finish the directions here! :) Basically - mix all ingredients very well in large bowl. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 11 minutes. If you like them crunchy - let them bake a bit longer. Enjoy!
- 3⁄4 cup butter or 3⁄4 cup margarine
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3⁄4 cup applesauce
- 3 eggs
- 1⁄8 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1⁄2 cups flour
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- 3 cups oatmeal
- 1 (12 ounce) package chocolate chips, any style
- Cream butter, sugars and applesauce. Mix well.
- See recipe description for directions.
This made about 8 dozen 2 - 2.5" cookies. I found that 11 minutes gave me cookies burnt on the bottom - 10 minutes was just right, and my oven is usually right on the money with time for baking.
I love this recipe so easy although I did change it up a bit to make it more healthy. Less sugar and butter more applesauce and I made them into bars because I was short on time. It is such a filling cookie, that doesnt stop me from eating four! I also did not put as many chips in. Making my 3rd batch in a week right now.
