Rich and buttery, My Grandmother made these for us when I was a kid. If you don't have almond extract, you can use 2 teaspoons of vanilla in its place. Any type of nuts can be used in place of the walnuts.

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  2. Mix butter or margarine with sugar until creamy.
  3. Add salt, almond or vanilla extract, flour, and nuts and Mix Well.
  4. Chill dough until firm enough to handle.
  5. Using fingers, shape dough into 1 inch balls or crescents.
  6. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until light brown.
  8. While cookies are still warm, roll in powdered sugar.
  9. Cool and serve.
