Gale Gand made crepes from Nutella and Bananas, and I just adapted her dish into a much easier recipe for French toast. What a way to start the day! I use whole wheat toast to make me think I'm eating healthy.
- 2 slice of your favorite bread
- 14.79 ml nutella
- thinly sliced ripe banana
- 1 egg
- 59.14 ml milk
- 1.23 ml vanilla
- confectioners' sugar
- Spread Nutella on one slice of bread.
- Cover the Nutella with thin slices of banana.
- Place second slice of bread on top.
- Beat egg, vanilla and milk together.
- Dip the sandwich in the egg/milk mixture flipping to cover both sides.
- Heat butter in skillet over medium heat.
- Place sandwich in skillet and cook about 3 minutes per side until lightly browned and cooked through.
- Dust french toast with confectioner's sugar and eat immediately.
This was really good. I used really thin bread, but still worried a little about the food safety of a thick sandwich. This was a little trickier/messier to flip than regular french toast, but it still came out fine, and tasted great. I love Gale Gand too!
So delicious! I made it for my sister's and mother and they absolutely loved it. Very yummy, I definitely have to try it with whole grain bread as well.
